How we make decisions

Our trust board has overall responsibility for running the hospital. The board makes decisions based on its:

  • Annual plan
  • Standing orders
  • the requirements of Monitor, the independent regulator for foundation trusts.  Monitor publishes a Compliance Framework and a Code of Governance.  These are available to view in the publications section of the Monitor website at

The trust board delegates a range of decisions to a number of sub-committees which include Audit, Finance, and Integrated Governance and Quality Assurance.

Internal communications

Staff are kept informed of key developments via a variety of methods including a monthly chief executive brief, Links Partnership Committee, and email updates and bulletins. Additionally, information is posted on both the trust's website and the intranet which is only available to staff.

The trust has a dedicated manager who is responsible for both the trust's external and internal communications.

Public consultations

No public consultation has been undertaken since 2005 during the application process for the trust to achieve foundation trust status.
