RheumatologyClinical services

Psoriatic arthritis

We offer a specialist service for patients with psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and treat one of the largest cohorts of patients with PsA in the country. We are highly regarded nationally and internationally as a centre of excellence for the care of patients with this condition.

Why choose us?

The service is led by Dr Ellie Korendowych and Professor Neil McHugh who are both leaders in the field, participating in a number of national and international research bodies. Both are medical advisors for the Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis Alliance.

Dr Korendowych leads the specialist anti-TNF service for patients with PsA, together with specialist nurse Nicola Waldron. We have an active research team with particular interests in the genetics of PsA, outcome measures and biomarkers of disease.

What we offer

We hold dedicated PsA clinics where patients are assessed by a member of the PsA team to confirm a diagnosis of PsA and have further investigations as required (blood tests, Xrays, ultrasound, MRI scans). They are referred to members of the multidisciplinary team (physiotherapy, occupational therapy, podiatry, orthotics) as necessary. Patients have the opportunity to discuss their disease and medications with our PsA specialist nurse Nicola Waldron. All patients will be offered the opportunity to become part of our research programme and will receive information on our current activities and clinical trials through the PsA newsletter. We hold an annual patient information day, open to all patients and their families.
